Web Content Writing

Digital content writing for business and industry

While web content writing is still copywriting, it’s actually very different to other publishing genres.

Digital content has its own rules and conventions – which change regularly as technology evolves and customer behaviour changes. What worked online 10 or even 5 years ago may not work today.

There are also extra elements to consider, such as usability (especially on small devices), searchability (SEO) and accessibility.

Web content must be well considered and strategically written to attract the right customers to you. It also needs to be readable on the smallest device and increase your chance of being found by search engines. There's a lot to consider!

That’s why our clients engage us to create their website content rather than write it themselves. Contact us to find out how we can help you!

(Alternatively, if you've already written your content, check out our editing and proofreading services.)

What we write

  • Web pages

Customer-focused and easy-to-read content with a logical structure and SEO-friendly elements, like keywords, headings, metadata and HTML tags

  • Blog posts

Well-researched, original and engaging blog articles on various topics, including business, parenting, real estate, health and wellness, and more

  • App content

Easy-to-follow, plain language content to assist users to make their way through your application and reduce drop-off rates

How our web writers work

Every web project is different, so the content development process will vary for every client. But this is generally the way we work. The prep work we do before writing anything is essential to create targeted, effective content.

  • 1

    We ask questions

First, we talk to you about your business, website goals, target audience and key messages. We ask many questions so we can create the most targeted and relevant content possible.

  • 2

    We look at visuals

We examine any available design mock-ups if it’s a new website or example sites that you want us to use as inspiration. Visuals show us how you want to represent yourself to clients and help us write authentic content to match it.

  • 3

    We collect source content

We make a list of topics and messages to cover in the content. You can send us any notes or sample information you have, like annual reports and brochures. The more we understand your business, the better the content will be.

  • 4

    We develop a site structure

We can create a draft site structure for your approval if you don’t already have one. This structure usually changes a little as the content is developed, but it's a good starting point.

  • 5

    We write your content

We write the page drafts and send them to you for feedback. Once we have feedback and any changes, we finalise the drafts for your developer to publish on the site. This includes keywords, metadata and content styles (tags).

What we promise

  • The right questions

We take the time to fully understand your business, goals, audience, messaging and voice, so we can write authentic and effective content for you. We don’t write generic business content.

  • Customer focus

Our content is targeted to your ideal reader or customer to give them a clear message in a language they’ll understand. We don’t write in confusing corporate-speak.

  • Original content

All our work is original. We don’t produce copied-and-pasted, plagiarised or one-size-fits-all content. We write specifically for you and your target reader.

  • Open communication

We maintain regular communication with you throughout the project and respond promptly to your queries. You won’t be left hanging, wondering if we’re doing the job.
